Most of us are familiar with hot brew coffee, but many people have yet to discover all the benefits and wonderful qualities of cold brew coffee. While a good cup of cold brew shares many characteristics with hot brew, it is its own unique creation, with advantages in preparation, flavor and health.
Long Brewing Time
At first glance, this may not seem very beneficial, but long brewing times can actually be very convenient. If you do some research on how to make cold brew coffee you’ll find that brewing times range from twelve to eighteen hours, drastically longer than other brewing methods. But the great thing about this is that you can set up your coffee to brew and then forget about it for the rest of the day or overnight, you don’t have to worry about leaving it too long and your coffee getting cold as with drip coffee and you don’t have to wait for just the right number of minutes to hit that sweet spot as with a French press.
Because cold brew coffee, unlike hot brew or iced coffee, doesn’t use heat at any point during the brewing process, the oils that naturally exist in coffee beans aren’t released into your drink. This means that cold brew coffee is less acidic than hot brew. Less acidic coffee is often easier on the stomach and less likely to cause heartburn, this is especially beneficial for those with sensitive stomachs who may otherwise not be able to enjoy coffee. The lower levels of acidity also result in a sweeter and smoother flavor opening up a whole new world of coffee experiences!
Cold brew coffee is a delicious drink, especially in warmer months when you’re craving coffee and caffeine but you need something cool to help you relax!
